En Français on dira :

Il y a une pomme sur la table.

Il y a des pommes sur la table.

IL Y A reste invariable que le complément soit au singulier ou au pluriel.

L’Anglais est plus logique, on accordera soit au singulier soit au pluriel :

There is an apple on the table.

There are apples on the table.
